Natalia | December 2015 – March 2016

At the turn of February and March 2016, I flew to Uganda as a volunteer to work with children at the Babies Home in Masindi. Being with them gave me unprecedented joy and energy to act. The children are amazing: full of energy, ideas, always willing to help, they give you their trust, greet you with a wide and sincere smile every morning! They get up early to go to school, they learn, they give their all, and they never complain. They trust that it’s worth it and enjoy every day at school with their friends, proudly wearing their school uniforms. Volunteering opens your eyes to a reality you didn’t know before. There’s no better investment than giving them what they need. What you can gain by working with them exceeded my imagination – a sense of fulfillment and the joy of being with them, but also longing – because there isn’t a day that I don’t think about my little friends from distant Uganda!
